Offline Turkish Translator for iPhone
Translation stays on-device; web search opens externally only if you choose it.
Pocket Lingo translates Turkish with a compatible model on your device after setup. Translation stays local; if you decline a result and explicitly choose web search, only then does the query open in an external service.
Why offline, for Turkish
Turkey packs world-class cities and vast empty country into one trip, and the gap between them is where data dies: the Lycian coast between towns, the long dolmuş ride into Anatolia, roaming that works fine in Istanbul and shrugs the moment you leave it. A bazaar haggle or a ferry ticket can't wait for a page to load. On-device means the translator keeps working in airplane mode, mid-Bosphorus crossing, on a trail with no tower in sight, the places a trip actually takes you.
Turkish reads cleanly: it's Latin script, spelled the way it sounds, so you won't be decoding a menu the way you might guess at kanji. The catch is saying it: the dotless ı, the soft ğ, and words that agglutinate into one long chain your mouth wasn't built for. That's where a translator that speaks the phrase aloud, one highlighted piece at a time, earns its place. You read the English, it says the Turkish for you.
Offline Turkish: Pocket Lingo vs. Google Translate
Google Translate can translate supported language pairs offline after their language packs are downloaded. Pocket Lingo takes a different approach: it requires no Studio AM account and translates with a compatible model on your device. Set up the model you need before traveling; the app then works in airplane mode without sending the translation to a Studio AM server.
