What does Chatter do?

Chatter is private A2–B1 English speaking practice. Speak or type in a free-form conversation, choose one of four everyday situations, or rehearse five workplace roleplays. The on-device partner replies in character. When bounded local checks accept a wording suggestion, Chatter can show a more natural option, the words that changed, and a short explanation. Partner speech is optional: auto-read is off by default, and you can tap a reply to hear it.

How does the hands-free Live room work?

Open a ready conversation and tap the waveform button. Live listens for one learner turn at a time, sends it through the same safety, access, saving, and correction path as typed or dictated Chat, then streams the partner reply into captions and on-device speech. End or interrupt Live to return to the same readable transcript. Live is a foreground conversation mode, not background recording.

Which iPhones and iPads can run it?

Chatter requires iOS 26 or iPadOS 26. It uses Apple's on-device model when that runtime is available. Another supported device may be offered a compatible local-model download. Model availability, download size, memory, and free-storage requirements vary by device. Chatter checks the exact path on the device rather than promising support from a rough phone-generation list.

The conversation model is not ready. What can I check?

If your device supports Apple Intelligence, open Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri and make sure it is enabled and has finished setup. Otherwise, Chatter may offer a compatible local model from Settings › AI Engine after a verified purchase or restore. Keep the app on a reliable connection for the initial download. Once the selected model is ready, conversation and coaching work offline.

The microphone is not turning my speech into text. What can I check?

Allow Microphone and Speech Recognition for Chatter in system Settings. Chatter requires on-device recognition and does not retain microphone audio; only the resulting transcript and speaking duration can be saved in the local conversation. You can always type instead.

Is what I say private?

Yes. Speech recognition, conversation, corrections, recaps, and transcript matching run on the device. Chatter has no Studio AM account, ads, cloud AI server, or transmitted analytics. Saved conversations stay in the local app archive and are not synced through CloudKit. A model or optional natural-voice download, App Store purchase or restore, and a link you explicitly open still require a connection.

What is the natural partner voice?

Pro can download an optional on-device natural voice. Its download and storage size can vary. It reads only the partner replies and does not change the microphone path. After download, it runs on the device. You can disable it, remove it, use the system voice instead, or leave partner speech off.

What do I get with Pro?

Chatter has no permanent free feature tier. Eligible accounts may see an introductory offer. The App Store shows current local Monthly and Annual pricing, eligibility, renewal periods, and terms. Pro covers starting and continuing conversations and creating new replies, corrections, coaching, metrics, Say It Again drills, and voice output. A retired lifetime purchase is no longer sold, but verified earlier owners can restore it.

What can I do after a subscription ends?

Your saved archive remains available. You can read and search every saved conversation, export all data as readable Markdown plus lossless versioned JSON, or delete individual conversations. Starting or continuing conversations and creating new AI output are paused. Plans, Restore Purchases, app lock, and appearance settings remain available.

Does Say It Again score pronunciation or my accent?

No. It compares the words in the on-device transcript with the improved line. Chatter focuses on conversation, grammar, and natural phrasing; it does not score pronunciation or accents.

Are the corrections always right?

No generated suggestion is guaranteed. The visible changed words come from a deterministic comparison between the original and improved lines, but the proposed wording and explanation come from a small on-device model. Treat them as a helpful practice prompt, not a grammar textbook.

How do I export or delete my practice history?

Open Settings or the lapsed-access archive and choose Export Markdown + JSON. Export is created only when you request it and opens the system share sheet. Delete a saved conversation from its Review or archive action. Deletion and export do not require an active subscription.

Still stuck, or found a bug?

The fastest route is Settings → Email Support in Chatter, or email support@studioam.art. Include your device and OS version, but never send a conversation you want to keep private.
