Fluency is the current name of the Hone Literacy reading app. It gives adults and serious English learners 286 passages across five levels, followed by questions on main idea, inference, vocabulary, and detail. The App Store listing is named English Reading: Comprehension.

There is no permanent free practice tier. New practice requires a monthly or annual auto-renewable subscription. Eligible new subscribers may receive a 3-day free trial; the App Store shows the current local price, eligibility, and renewal terms before purchase. Earlier one-time owners retain full access through Restore Purchases, but that product is no longer sold.

Open Your data from the paywall to view every saved word and word part, passage answer, daily score, Daily Challenge, recall, Fluency Lab sitting, Literacy Index, and streak. You can export the complete record as lossless JSON plus a readable plain-text summary, or delete everything. Starting new practice requires active access.

Fluency chooses passages for your demonstrated level and weaker reading skills. You can set a daily goal of 1, 3, or 5 passages. Complete the goal to keep your streak, while the Literacy Index combines comprehension with reading speed without rewarding fast, careless reading.

Recall asks you to state the passage point before answer choices can cue you. Guided rereading shows the strategy, signal phrases, and evidence behind a question. Fluency Lab times a cold read and a hot reread of the same passage so you can compare them; it is separate from the adaptive Literacy Index.

Tap a word for the on-device dictionary and save it with its original sentence. Saved words and useful word parts return through spaced review. Listen-along highlights each sentence while an installed system voice reads it. Pro also offers an optional roughly 325 MB on-device natural-voice download.

No. The core app supports iOS and iPadOS 17 or later. The optional reading tutor requires iOS or iPadOS 26, an Apple-Intelligence-capable device, Apple Intelligence enabled, and its model ready. If that tutor is unavailable, the passages, questions, explanations, vocabulary tools, and other core practice still work.

The bundled reading library and core practice work offline. The network is used for StoreKit plans, purchase, and restore; a small daily check for available reading updates; a full corpus update only when you request it; the optional natural-voice download; and an external DuckDuckGo search only when you explicitly choose it after a declined question.

No Studio AM account, ads, analytics, tracking, telemetry, or cloud-sync service is used for your record. Progress is stored locally. It leaves the app only when you open the system share sheet to export it. You can delete the complete record from Your data.

For readings, open Settings and tap Get latest readings while online. For a subscription or earlier one-time purchase, open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases. If Apple verifies the transaction, access returns without buying it again.

Reminders are off by default and use local notifications. If you enable one, Fluency schedules it only while your verified access remains active and removes it when access ends.
