Answers to common questions, and how to reach us.
What does Second Brain do?
Capture any thought by typing, talking, or sharing text from another app, and Second Brain remembers it for you. Later, ask a question in plain words and it gives you a short, sourced answer drawn from what you saved. Reminders come back when they are due, and Reflect shows themes in your notes. AI processing runs privately on your iPhone or iPad.
Which devices does it work on, and why?
Second Brain requires iOS or iPadOS 26 or later. Devices with Apple Intelligence use Apple's built-in on-device model. Other supported devices may be offered a one-time local-model download. The app checks the device during setup and explains the available path; unsupported devices cannot run the AI features.
The app says "Apple Intelligence needed." How do I fix that?
On an Apple Intelligence device, open Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri and make sure Apple Intelligence is enabled and ready. On another supported device, follow the in-app setup for the downloadable on-device model. Keep the device on Wi-Fi and power while any required model finishes downloading, then reopen Second Brain.
Is my data private?
AI processing and transcription run on your device, with no Studio AM account, analytics, or advertising. Notes stay local by default. Optional private iCloud sync is off until you enable it and uses your private iCloud database; Studio AM cannot read it. Voice-recording audio remains local to the device.
Can I trust the answers?
Second Brain answers only from your own notes and shows you the sources for every answer. When it does not have something, it says "I don’t have that" instead of making an answer up. Answers are still AI-generated by a small on-device model, so check anything important against the sources shown.
How do reminders work?
When you capture something like "remind me to email Sam tomorrow at 9," Second Brain recognizes the time on-device and schedules a local notification. Swipe a reminder to mark it done. Reminders are scheduled entirely on your phone; nothing is sent anywhere.
How do I capture by voice or from other apps?
Use dictation when you want spoken words turned directly into text, or start a voice memo when you want to keep and replay the recording. A recording you start may continue while the app is in the background, and on-device transcription makes it searchable afterward. To save text from another app, use Share and choose Second Brain. The app never starts recording by itself.
Is there a free plan, and what does Pro include?
There is no functional free plan. Eligible new subscribers may receive a 3-day free trial. The US price is $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year, and the App Store shows the current local price and eligibility before purchase. Pro authorizes new notes, recordings, imports, reminders, Ask, Reflect, and other AI output.
What can I do after a subscription ends?
Archive mode blocks new notes, recordings, imports, reminders, and AI output. Previously saved notes remain readable and searchable, recordings remain playable, note and Ask text remain exportable, and existing items remain deletable.
I subscribed or bought the older lifetime unlock, but Pro is not showing. What do I do?
Open Settings or the plans screen and tap Restore Purchases. Monthly and yearly subscriptions are the only options sold to new customers. The retired lifetime product remains restore-only for people who previously bought it. If a verified purchase still does not appear, email us.
What does export include?
Markdown contains note and Ask text, while JSON contains structured note and Ask data. Neither format contains voice-recording audio, so the files are portable records rather than complete app backups. Export remains available in archive mode.
