Sam
Privacy Policy
Effective August 12, 2026 (v1.0)
Privacy first: Sam is built so your private state never has to leave your devices. Studio AM operates no servers for Sam, has no account system, and cannot read your data. The iPhone app and the Mac app talk to each other only through your own private iCloud database. There are no ads, no third-party analytics, and no behavioral tracking.
1. Information and content
1.1 Studio AM accounts and personal information
Sam requires no Studio AM account, email address, or profile, and Studio AM does not collect personal information through the app.
1.2 What stays on your Mac
Sam’s working material is stored on your Mac in plain files you can open and audit at any time: your notebook, calendar events it reads for the morning brief, files inside the folders you allow, reports, and chore definitions. None of it is uploaded to Studio AM.
1.3 What the iPhone app sees
The iPhone companion shows run summaries (a title, an outcome, a short note), approval requests (a proposed fact or chore), and the directions you write. These records live in your private Apple CloudKit database, attached to your Apple Account. Studio AM cannot access that database. Notebook text, files, and reports stay on the Mac. None of that is mirrored to the phone.
1.4 Web research and watched pages
When Sam runs a research task or fetches a page you asked it to watch, those web requests leave your Mac and reach the sites and the search provider involved (DuckDuckGo by default, or Brave if you configure your own key). Only the query and the page addresses are sent, never your notebook or files. Summaries are produced on-device.
1.5 App Store data
If Sam reads your App Store Connect data as one of your configured chores, it does so with credentials stored on your Mac, and the data stays there.
2. Permissions
Calendar access (Mac) is used to compose your briefs; events never leave the Mac. Notifications are local. The iPhone app uses your iCloud account solely for the private database described above.
3. Third parties
Sam has no third-party SDKs, no analytics libraries, and no ad networks. Apple processes iCloud sync and App Store transactions under its own privacy policy.
4. Data retention and deletion
Everything Sam stores is yours to delete: remove files on the Mac (everything lives under one visible folder), delete the iCloud records from any signed-in device, or delete the apps. Studio AM holds nothing to delete on its side.
5. Children
Sam is a productivity tool intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect information from children.
6. Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version is posted at this address with a new effective date. Questions: support@studioam.art.
