Privacy Policy

Privacy first: Pocket Lingo is designed so that we never see what you translate. There is no Studio AM account, cloud-translation service, tracking, analytics, or advertising. Translation performed inside Pocket Lingo stays on your device.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Personal information

We collect no personal information. Pocket Lingo requires no account, email, or identifier of any kind.

1.2 Your text, speech, photos, and practice

Text, speech, camera frames, imported photos, saved translations, practice sentences, quiz answers, and dietary preferences are processed or stored on the device. Camera and imported-photo content is not uploaded for translation. Pocket Lingo does not send this content to Studio AM. Conversation audio, including audio captured by the optional hands-free mode, is processed transiently on the device and is not uploaded to Studio AM.

1.3 Analytics

Studio AM receives no analytics or usage data. Pocket Lingo keeps a few anonymous event counts locally on the device so its own settings and debug tools can show them; they are never transmitted automatically. The app contains no third-party tracking or advertising SDK.

2. On-device processing & offline use

Translation uses Apple Intelligence where available or an optional enhanced model downloaded on supported devices; speech uses system voices. Once the required model is ready, translation can run in airplane mode. Network access may be used to download a model or process an App Store purchase or restore. If you decline a result and explicitly choose the optional web-search handoff, the query opens in an external service under that service's privacy terms.

3. Permissions

Camera, photo-library, microphone, speech-recognition, notification, and Face ID permissions are requested only when you choose the related feature. You can deny them and continue using features that do not require that permission.

4. Purchases and archive access

Pocket Lingo offers monthly and yearly auto-renewable subscriptions through the App Store. The App Store shows the current local price and any introductory offer for which a customer is eligible. The retired lifetime product is not sold to new customers but remains restorable for verified previous owners. If subscription access ends, saved translations and phrases remain readable, searchable, exportable, and deletable; new content and app features remain locked.

5. Export and deletion

You can export saved translations and translation history as Markdown or JSON, including from archive mode, and delete existing archive rows. Copies you previously exported are outside the app and are not deleted automatically.

6. Requirements

Pocket Lingo requires iOS or iPadOS 26 or later. Available translation languages and features depend on the compatible model active on the device. The phrasebook and read-aloud do not require a translation model.

7. Children's privacy

Pocket Lingo collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

8. Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the effective date revised before the change ships.
