Muse
Privacy Policy
Effective August 3, 2026 (v1.1.8)
Privacy first: Muse is built so that we never see your data. There are no accounts, no servers of ours, no analytics, and no ads. Every photo and journal entry stays on your device.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Personal information
We collect no personal information. Muse requires no account, email, or identifier of any kind. You can use the app completely anonymously.
1.2 Journal data
Everything you enter is stored locally on your device: the photos you capture or import, and the details you add (title, artist, genre, venue, creation year, mood, heart rating, impressions, placard summary, and the color palette extracted from each image). This data never leaves your device except through sharing or a web search you explicitly choose.
1.3 Analytics
We collect no analytics or usage data. Muse contains no third-party analytics SDKs, tracking, or telemetry. There is no advertising.
2. Camera and photos
Muse asks for camera permission so you can photograph artwork. When you choose to import an existing image, Apple's system photo picker gives Muse access only to the photo you select; Muse does not request broad access to your photo library. Photos are stored in the app's local storage on your device and are never uploaded to us.
3. Sharing a report
When you share a piece or a report, you choose the destination through the standard iOS share sheet. Muse does not transmit anything on its own.
4. Optional web search
If an on-device Ask response cannot answer from your journal, Muse may offer a Web Search button. Tapping it opens DuckDuckGo in your browser with the question you typed. Muse never adds your journal entries or photos to that search. The browser and search provider then apply their own privacy policies.
5. Purchases
Muse Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. The purchase is validated on-device using Apple's StoreKit. There is no third-party purchase server, and we never see your name, email, or payment details.
6. Children's privacy
Muse is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
7. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the effective date revised before the change ships.
