Answers about memory practice, the vault, reminders, and your data.
What is Hone Memory?
Hone Memory is a daily memory practice app. Each session mixes rounds from ten drills (digit span, n-back, grid recall, word recall, names & faces, memory palace journeys, fact packs, long numbers, running span, and Corsi span) at a difficulty that adapts to you. A Learn tab teaches the techniques (the method of loci, name rituals, chunking, the major system, spaced repetition), and a personal vault lets you save your own things to remember and reviews them with you on a spaced schedule. The App Store listing is named Memory Palace & Name Recall.
How much does it cost? Is there a free tier?
There is no free tier: practice, lessons, and vault reviews require a subscription. Eligible new subscribers get a 3-day free trial; Apple shows eligibility and local terms before purchase. The US prices are $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year.
What can I access without a subscription?
Everything you have already made. Your session history, streaks, and every item you saved in the vault stay readable forever, with or without an active subscription. The lesson list and unit titles are also always visible. The subscription covers new practice, opening lessons, and running vault reviews.
What is the vault?
A private place for your own things to remember: a door code, where you parked, a colleague’s name and what they care about. Each item gets a prompt, the content, and an optional hint. The app brings items back for review on an expanding schedule (1, 3, 7, 14, 30, then 90 days); a miss brings an item back sooner. Everything stays on your device.
How do reminders work?
Reminders are off by default. If you turn them on in Settings, the app asks for notification permission and schedules local notifications only: a daily practice reminder at the time you choose, and at most one vault reminder per day when items are due. Reminders are scheduled only while your access is active and are removed when it ends.
How does difficulty work?
Each drill adapts separately on a shared level scale: spans grow longer, n-back goes deeper, grids get bigger, journeys add stops. Strong rounds push a drill up; misses ease it back. Your levels persist between sessions.
Does Hone Memory need the internet?
No. All drills, lessons, fact packs, and the vault work offline. The network is used only by Apple’s StoreKit for plans, purchase, and restore. Access is never revoked just because you are offline.
Does the app collect or sync my data?
No. There is no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no cloud sync. Your progress, streaks, and vault items are stored locally on your device and never leave it.
How do I restore a purchase?
Open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases. If Apple verifies the transaction, access returns without buying again. Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID settings; a free trial ends without charge if you cancel before it is over.
