Home Story
Privacy Policy
Effective August 21, 2026
Privacy first: Home Story is built so that we never see your home records. There is no Home Story account or Studio AM server that receives those records, and there is no advertising, tracking, or home-usage analytics. Everything you record about your home stays on your device and, when iCloud is available, in your private iCloud container. Apple and RevenueCat process the limited purchase information needed to offer and restore the optional Pro unlock.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Personal information
Home Story does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, account, or advertising identifier. You can use the app without signing in. RevenueCat generates a random app identifier for purchase management; it is not connected to a Home Story account because the app has no account system.
1.2 Home and maintenance data
Everything you enter is stored locally on your device: home details (nickname, type, year built), maintenance schedules and service records, photos you attach, costs and vendor notes, issues, condition snapshots, and reminder preferences. This data never leaves your device except through the backup and export features described below, which go only to storage you own.
1.3 Analytics
We do not send home records, photos, maintenance activity, or app usage to an analytics, advertising, tracking, or telemetry service. RevenueCat uses purchase history for entitlement functionality and aggregate purchase reporting. Home Story does not use RevenueCat for advertising or cross-app tracking.
2. iCloud backup
If your device is signed into iCloud and iCloud Drive is available, Home Story writes backups to the app's private container in your iCloud account, so you can restore records after a reinstall or on another device. Auto-backup can be turned off, and you can create or restore a snapshot from Settings. We operate no servers and cannot access these backups. If iCloud is unavailable, backups remain on the device.
3. Purchases
Home Story Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Apple through the App Store. RevenueCat validates the transaction and keeps the Pro entitlement in sync. RevenueCat may process a random anonymous app identifier, product and entitlement status, Apple receipt or transaction information, last-seen time, and limited app/device technical information needed to operate that service. Studio AM and RevenueCat do not receive your App Store payment details. We do not send RevenueCat your name or email, and we do not use a custom user ID. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
4. Network access and public content
Home Story can check Studio AM's public GitHub Pages site for newer, verified maintenance-task and guide files, then download an update when one is available. Settings can also load Studio AM's public app list. These requests do not include your homes, records, photos, reminders, or identifiers from those records. Apple and RevenueCat connections are limited to loading, purchasing, validating, and restoring the optional Pro unlock. iCloud connections are used for the private backups described above.
Support, privacy, terms, App Store, and other Studio AM links open an external destination only when you choose them. Sending feedback opens your mail app. As with any network request, the destination can receive ordinary connection information such as an IP address, but Home Story does not add your home records to those requests.
5. Export and deletion
From Settings, you can export a complete JSON copy of your records and attached photos through the system share sheet without buying Pro. You can delete local homes, history, issues, photos, preferences, and app-managed export files. You separately choose whether Home Story's private iCloud backups are kept for recovery or deleted too. Copies you previously shared or saved outside Home Story are controlled by their destination. PDF maintenance reports are an optional Pro feature.
6. Notifications
Maintenance reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. Nothing is sent to or from a server to deliver them.
7. Photos
If you attach photos to records, Home Story asks for photo-library or camera permission and stores the images in the app's local storage (and in your backups). Photos are never uploaded to us.
8. Children's privacy
Home Story is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
9. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the effective date revised before the change ships.
